Halloween evening
Saturday brings on and off showers and a few thunderstorms. Forecasters say the rain should come and go, with light amounts, and that it may hang on into the evening and overnight hours over southeast Oklahoma, southwest Arkansas and north Louisiana, right as trick or treaters head out.
NWS hourly forecasts for 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday show about a 40% chance of a shower or storm in Shreveport early in the evening, dropping to about 20% after 7 p.m.; 30 to 40% in Monroe; and about 40% in Texarkana early, dropping to about 30% later. Temperatures fall from the mid 70s around 5 p.m. to the mid to upper 60s by 9 p.m. A rain jacket or umbrella is a good idea, and if you hear thunder, head inside until it passes.
Looking ahead: Election Day storms possible
Sunday looks warm and humid with a few showers mainly in south Arkansas and north Louisiana, and most of Monday stays dry. A stronger system and cold front arrive Monday night in southeast Oklahoma, southwest Arkansas and east Texas, then cross the rest of the area Tuesday, Election Day. Forecasters say there is at least a low end threat for strong to severe storms Tuesday and that 1 to 3 inches of rain is likely in total from tonight through midweek. Cooler, drier weather follows. We will keep watching the Tuesday forecast.
